Farum has made an arrangement where they are planning to come to Lund eight times until March 2016, with their top swimmers. This is a great way to follow up the technical changes you need to do. Farum is determined to do its utmost to help the swimmers to reach their goals and then details are important. I see the testcenter in Lund as a very good and important complement to technological development. The facility can provide southern Sweden with a great help for future international success.

Swedish Center for Aquatic Research in Lund offers unique test facilities for athletes, coaches and researchers with an interest of human motions in the aquatic enviroment.

The high-speed camera system built with 23 high definition, 100fps cameras capture both underwater and above water swimming technique, from 50-1500 in all 5 strokes. AIM Camera Analysis system presents real time race data in a simple and readable format, enabling coaches and swimmers to identify specific strengths and weaknesses in performance and determine each individual’s optimum racing strategy.
AIM Camera Analysis system performs complex and tedious calculations in real time that cannot reasonably be performed by hand. The system pinpoints your position real time and can read your exact speed during your race. The most significant parameters that influence every swimmer’s competitive performance: Cycle Count per lap, Break Distance from start and turns, Tempo, Breakout Time, Drop Off, Distance Per Cycle, Pure Swimming Velocity, Turn Time, Time Spent Under Water, Distance Swim Under Water.

In addition we can make Lactate Threshold tests, Start and Turn tests, Stoke analysis and many other relevant tests in aquatic environments.

 Swedish Center for Aquatic Research works closely with Health Sciences Lab at Lund University.This allows us to offer the tests related to training that few other places around the world.

 The Health Sciences Lab is a metabolic and muscular laboratory with strong research links, which focuses on evaluating aspects of lifestyle and sport.

Available tests include:

  •        VO2max (cycle and treadmill)
  •        Lactate Threshold (cycle and treadmill)
  •        Functional Strength ( +Power)
  •        Isokinetic – Using the Biodex we can test various aspects of muscle function, including peak torque and total work, and the analysis of major muscle groups.
  •        Isokinetic + EMG – Using the Biodex dynamometer with EMG the muscle’s passive resistance and active torque at various contraction speeds can be measured together with the electromyographic activity.
  •        Resting Metabolic Rate -Measurement of metabolic rate is carried out using the latest technology, either within or outside of the laboratory using the mobile equipment, and can be done using either breath-by-breath or mixing chamber and ventilated hood.

SCAR- Swedish Center for Aquatic Research.

SCAR – Swedish Center for Aquatic Research SCAR is an integrated initiative within SK Poseidon, Lund, Sweden, and is conducted under the auspices of the club. The center is dedicated to advancing both Swedish and international research in aquatic sports and performance.

Through collaboration among coaches, researchers, and relevant organizations, SCAR seeks to promote increased academic engagement and interdisciplinary approaches to aquatic development. The initiative aims to strengthen the connection between applied practice and scientific research within the aquatic domain.

SCAR has been established with the support of an advisory board comprising leading international coaches.
